I have been a pediatric physiotherapist specializing in neurodevelopmental disorders for nearly 10 years. During this time, I found that there is nothing more professionally rewarding than seeing the quality of life improve for kids with gross motor challenges. I use evidence-based treatment methods in a fun, play-based environment while working towards the goals set up collaboratively with the family and other clinicians. My journey as a physiotherapist started in South Africa at the University of Pretoria, where I graduated in the early 2000s. During my time working in remote villages, I discovered my love for pediatric physiotherapy. I migrated to Canada, with my husband, in 2005 and have since continued to expand my extensive working knowledge of not only neurology, but also musculoskeletal and orthopedics through my work in hospital and private clinic settings. I continue to also work part-time at an independent school as a physiotherapist, servicing children with needs ranging from cerebral palsy, heart defects, developmental delay, ASD and various syndromes including Fragile X, Angelman, arthrogryposis, and Down syndrome. On the personal side, I am a mom of four beautiful kids. Together with my husband, we enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities – whether it is winter or summer. I also love horses, I have been riding horses since I was six and enjoy jumping recreationally or going for a long trail ride by the river. It was my love for horses and kids that drew me to incorporate horses in my treatment methodology – known as hippotherapy. I am an American Hippotherapy Association member and have completed Level 1 of their Hippotherapy certification.

Registered Occupational Therapist, ACOT # 4372
Hi, I’m Colleen! I graduated with my masters in Occupational Therapy in 2013 from the University of Alberta and have diverse experience working with children and adults as both a mental health therapist and occupational therapist. My practice is characterized by a holistic approach to child development and overall family wellness.
Since becoming a parent myself, my passion lies in empowering parents to become emotionally regulated, steady, and sturdy pillars of support for their children. I believe that by helping parents manage their own sensory needs effectively, they can create a more nurturing and stable environment for their families. Parenting is hard, and I want to help build your capacity to enjoy these family years.
Parental Mental Health Coaching Approach
Emotional Regulation Techniques: Teaching parents practical strategies to recognize and manage their emotions, even in high-stress situations. Mindful Parenting: Introducing mindfulness practices that help parents stay present and responsive to their children’s needs. Attachment-Based Strategies: Methods are rooted in attachment theory, fostering secure parent-child relationships. Child Development: Providing education on & promoting age-appropriate skills and milestones across all developmental domains. Play-Based Therapy: Utilizing play as a powerful tool for learning, development, and healing.- Sensory Processing Education: Helping parents understand and address their own sensory needs, as well as their children’s to reduce family stress.
Feeding Therapy Approach
As a mom to three young children, all of whom had tethered oral tissues and various feeding struggles, I understand how stressful feeding can be. These experiences inspired me to specialize further as a pediatric feeding therapist. My hope is that mealtime can become be a time of connection and comfort for all family members. My approach to therapy is to come alongside children and their families with comprehensive assessment to understand the ‘why’ behind feeding struggles. Then we can collaborate together to make a plan that is meaningful, functional, and fun.
In addition to parent coaching, and feeding therapy, I am happy to support activities of daily living, fine/gross motor development, emotional regulation, and sensory processing.
I look forward to supporting you!

Hi, I’m Kelsey! I’ve been an occupational therapist since 2021, but I’ve been passionate about helping kids exceed their potential for over a decade. My favourite part about being an occupational therapist is seeing the pride on a child’s (and parent’s) face when they accomplish something they had been struggling with. That, and finding ways to make programming meaningful and fun for each individual child.
I approach my sessions with compassion and patience for both children and their families. Raising the future is hard! Therapy shouldn’t be. I take a family-centered approach and emphasize meeting kids where they are at. I work with families to create sustainable programs and strategies that work in their everyday lives.
I can provide support with daily living skills (dressing, hygiene routines, toilet training, sleep), self-regulation, fine and gross motor development, and mealtimes (self-feeding, selective eating, oral motor skills development). I have experience with FSCD contracts and immensely enjoy working with neurodivergent populations.
When I’m not in the clinic, you might find me trail running, chasing my toddler, or camping with my family. In the winter, I will be hibernating with a chai latte.

Hi, I’m Jessica! I’m a Registered Provisional Psychologist here in Alberta. I know from personal experience that asking for help and prioritizing your mental health is really hard. Facing the difficult aspects of your life is scary and it’s much easier to stay in the same patterns that have kept you afloat and helped you survive. But if you find those patterns aren’t working for you anymore, it can be worth it to take that leap and reach out - and I’d love to take that step with you! I often work with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and those dealing with anxiety, depression, personality disorders (specifically borderline personality disorder), relationship issues, trauma/PTSD, and complex trauma.
I enjoy working with teens (ages 13+), adults, and couples. I also offer various functional/vocational assessments, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD diagnosis. I operate from a person-centred lens, which means I believe that you are the expert on your own life. You’re steering the ship in our sessions, and I’m there to support you by offering a compassionate, down-to-earth, and candid style of therapy (laughter also guaranteed). I have training and experience in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), among others.
I love connecting with people from all walks of life and cultures. I believe in accepting people for who they are in the moment they sit down in our space. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Sarah Peterson
(She/Her/Hers)
Hi, my name is Sarah! I am an Occupational Therapist living in Edmonton, AB. I grew up in the Northwest Territories and completed my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and my Masters of Science at the University of Alberta.
I began my career and continue to work with a non-profit that supports children with complex needs; this started my passion for creating fun and play-based therapy sessions that are individual to each child and family. My clinical scope of practice includes assessment and intervention in sensory regulation, fine motor & handwriting, visual-motor development, and activities of daily living.
In my spare time you can find me caring for my jungle of plants, exploring with my pup or watching Disney movies!
I currently work with Alberta Therapy Co. Tuesday/Thursday evenings and Sundays.
I can’t wait to meet you!

“I believe in capitalizing on strengths to promote interaction and access to communication”
I am speech-language pathologist who is passionate about supporting children and adults as a team with their families. I value meaningful connection, diversity, and acceptance.
I began my career specializing in Early Childhood Services supporting children in daycare and preschool settings and collaborating with their families, as well as Speech-Language Assistants/Educational Assistants, Occupational Therapists, and Behaviour Consultants. I love working with others as a team and it is so rewarding to see gains in children’s communication abilities! I also have experience supporting school-age children, as well as adults, with speech, language, and communication.
I am passionate to support the growth of individuals with a variety of communication needs including speech, language, fluency, as well as social, cognitive, and augmentative & alternative communication. By using play-based therapy approaches (also known as interest- or hobbies-based for older ages) and individualized goals, I focus on meeting individuals where they are at, building on their skills, and following their lead to promote confidence in their communication.
I am very grateful to be a part of the amazing team at Alberta Therapy Co! Currently, I work part-time during Tuesday and Thursday evenings, but will have more availability opening up during the weekdays in Summer 2024.
